Someone Who Gets You
Hi, I’m Alice (she/her)
I specialize in working with mother wounded women and LGBTQ folx with histories of childhood trauma and with anxious teens with perfectionism. I work with those who have been so focused on pleasing and accommodating others that they have lost their internal connection to themselves: their identity, their joy.
I am deeply passionate about this work because I have been there. I understand what it’s like to experience and witness tremendous growth within the safety of the therapeutic process and to emerge softer and more connected.
On the outside, my clients have Wednesday Addams energy: they are guarded, incisive, and perceptive, but on the inside, they crave softness and vulnerability. The divide between how they know how to move through the world and how they wish to be is confusing, painful, and lonely. Like you, they feel othered and invisible.
Many of the folks I work with accelerated into adulthood, making sure to be successful, perfect, and overachieving, but that shameful, critical voice in their heads won’t let them believe their capabilities.
What is it like being in session with me? I bring a bold, compassionate, no-nonsense style to the therapeutic space. I am authentically present as your partner, witnessing and tuning into your needs. I validate with genuine care and warmth, and I challenge and name the barriers that are blocking your growth so that you can restore your power and integrate the parts of you into your fullest self.
In my personal life? I love being both downright silly and sarcastic. I admire a good fiction story with multiple narrators and crisscrossing timelines, and I delight in being around animals—I have two dogs who keep me playful, grounded, and curious. I am a daughter of Bosnian immigrants and I grew up in a bilingual and multigenerational household, tethered among cultures and navigating the space in between those worlds.
If you feel ready to begin trauma therapy and evolve into the fullest version of you, I would love to help you get there.
Ready to begin healing with a trauma therapist in New Orleans, Connecticut, or Falls Church, VA?
In therapy with me, you can expect less validation that leads nowhere, more curiosity towards the tools you used to survive, more compassion towards your strengths, and more challenges to support you in seeing your blindspots and defenses—helping you grow
How do we accomplish this, together? As a trauma therapist, I use an approach called relational/interpersonal neurobiology and rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS). What does this look like in session?
I welcome every part of you, exactly as you are
I care about how your past impacts your present
I partner with you to build curiosity and compassion for yourself and the tools you have needed to keep yourself safe and protected—both the tools you have considered “good” and “bad”
Sometimes in our sessions we will talk and sometimes we will use experiential tools (creative, expressive, art-based tools) to support you in bringing what is unspeakable to being witnessed and released
